Red Nacional de Tejedoras de la Patria holds nationwide activations in Mexico

More than 2,700 women participated in the first two activations of the Red Nacional de Tejedoras de la Patria across all 32 Mexican states. The initiative, driven by the Secretaría de las Mujeres, aims to strengthen territorial organization, defend national sovereignty, and protect fundamental rights.

The first activation, ‘Tejedoras defendiendo la Patria’, involved over 1,200 women responding to a call by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. Participants discussed the role of women in peacebuilding and sovereignty in strategic sectors such as energy, technology, and food. The group highlighted national projects like the strengthening of Pemex and the Olinia electric vehicle as tools for national independence.

A second activation, ‘Juventudes Tejiendo memoria y derechos’, engaged approximately 1,500 young women across 54 municipalities. This session focused on the National Security Strategy and the construction of ‘Territories of Peace’. Participants addressed the risks of digital movements and narratives, such as ‘tradwife’ and ‘machósfera’ trends, which they identified as promoting gender stereotypes and threatening equality gains.
