Red River Polytechnic expands with new Winnipeg campus

Red River College Polytechnic has officially opened its new south Winnipeg campus following the takeover of the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT). The expansion includes the Fultz, Henlow, and Pembina buildings, marking the institution's third campus in Winnipeg and ninth in Manitoba.

The transition follows a provincial decision to close MITT due to financial instability caused by new federal caps on international student enrolment. As part of the merger, RRC Polytech has retained 19 programs, including hairstyling and pharmacy technician training.

President Fred Meier noted that approximately 50 positions have been filled to launch 14 programs at the new site, with many instructors being former MITT employees. Preliminary data indicates a 16 per cent increase in enrolment across credential programs, which officials describe as a “one-time bump” resulting from the merger.
