Red scarf bearing Che Guevara's image travels from Lebanon to Cuba
A red scarf featuring the image of Che Guevara has become a traveling symbol of resistance, moving from Palestinian refugee camps to Cuba and Latin America.
The history of the scarf dates back to September 2015 in Beirut, Lebanon. During a visit to the Shatila refugee camp, Argentine activist Graciela Ramírez met Kifah Afifi, a former Palestinian combatant and ex-prisoner. During this encounter, Afifi presented Ramírez with the red scarf.
Recently, the symbol was presented to two Palestinian doctors trained in Cuba at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP). The scarf serves as a gesture of solidarity for those resisting perceived injustices and maintaining sovereignty.
