Red squirrels in Sarıkamış draw children and photographers

In the Sarıkamış district of eastern Turkey, the Harun Hayali Millet Bahçesi park has become a popular spot to watch red squirrels. The agile animals are frequently seen climbing trees, nibbling pine cones and foraging near picnic tables, providing lively scenes that attract families and nature photographers who record the moments on their phones.

Local resident Oktay Yavlal highlighted that the squirrels, together with the region’s diverse birdlife, add to Sarıkamış’s appeal for nature‑based tourism, offering visitors a chance to experience the area’s rich wildlife while enjoying its famous pine forests.
