Red Star Belgrade terminates Rodrigão's contract

Red Star Belgrade has officially announced the mutual termination of Brazilian defender Rodrigão’s contract, which was originally set to run until the summer of 2027. The 31-year-old center-back has been unable to secure a regular starting position under recent management, appearing in only two competitive matches during the current season.

Rodrigão joined the Serbian champions in May 2025 from Zenit St. Petersburg. While he contributed to the club's national double last season, including a crucial goal in the Serbian Cup final against Vojvodina, he fell out of favor under manager Dejan Stanković and failed to regain a consistent role under Albert Riera.

The termination allows the club to alleviate its budget by removing the salary of a player who was not part of the active squad for European competitions. As a free agent, Rodrigão is now eligible to sign with a new club outside of the standard transfer windows.
