Red Tractor launches film to highlight British food producers

Red Tractor has released a new short film titled ‘Proud to Farm’ to highlight the work of the more than 40,000 farmers and growers assured by the scheme. The film aims to make the skill and care involved in British food production more visible to consumers, emphasizing that farmers fulfill diverse roles including business owners, mechanics, and livestock experts.

The initiative follows a period of unusually hot and dry weather that has placed significant pressure on food production sectors. Red Tractor chief executive Paul McLaughlin stated that farmers are producing food against an ‘incredibly challenging backdrop’ and deserve to be championed.

The Red Tractor assurance scheme covers approximately 75% of UK agricultural production, with its logo appearing on more than £18bn of British food and drink. NFU deputy president Paul Tompkins also praised the dedication of those in the sector who manage livestock and the countryside while running complex businesses.
