Reddit user seeks advice after son requests 3,000-euro gaming PC

A father turned to the Reddit gaming community for advice after his 16-year-old son requested a high-end computer build valued at approximately 3,000 euros. The son, who was promised new hardware for good school performance, proposed a list of premium components including an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D processor and a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.

The proposed build, with pricing based on September 2023 data, included a be quiet! case, an MSI motherboard, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, a 2.0 TB Kingston SSD, a Corsair power supply, and a Noctua CPU cooler. The father expressed hesitation regarding the high cost of the components for the intended use.
