Rede de Frio Central marks 25 years of vaccination management in Distrito Federal

The Rede de Frio Central, a strategic unit of the Distrito Federal Health Secretariat (SES-DF), is celebrating 25 years of operation. The unit currently coordinates 51 types of immunobiologicals, including vaccines and high-precision medications, and manages the application of nearly 3 million doses annually.

Operating as a management branch of the Health Surveillance Subsecretariat (SVS), the center is responsible for creating immunization bulletins, establishing regional norms, and training vaccination room staff. It also plays a critical role in anti-rabies campaigns and the distribution of serums, such as antivenoms.

The facility features advanced technical infrastructure, including 18 scientific chambers and a 63-cubic-meter cold room capable of maintaining temperatures between +2°C and +8°C. Additionally, four scientific refrigerators can maintain temperatures as low as -90°C. Digital monitoring systems provide detailed reports on temperature, door openings, and power supply fluctuations to ensure the preservation of thermolabile products.

The workforce consists of 31 professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and public policy analysts. The integrated model used in the Distrito Federal has been recognized by the Ministry of Health and serves as a reference for other Brazilian states and municipalities.
