Rede D’Or study finds average heart attack age 58 in São Paulo

A cardiology study by Rede D’Or examined 4,921 patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction between January 2025 and March 2026 across 59 units in six Brazilian states. The analysis showed that São Paulo has the youngest average age for heart‑attack cases at 58 years, lower than the national average and younger than other states surveyed. Rio de Janeiro recorded the highest number of confirmed infarctions (764) and an average age of 62, while São Paulo reported 572 cases. Other states showed older profiles: Bahia (69 years), Brasília (67 years), Minas Gerais (67.5 years) and Pernambuco (70 years). Dr. Mariana Mancilha, cardiologist at Hospital Vila Nova Star and medical manager for Rede D’Or Cardiology, highlighted chronic psychosocial stress as a key independent risk factor alongside smoking, hypertension, diabetes and dyslipidaemia. The findings will be presented at the International Cardiology Congress Rede D’Or 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for 6–8 August.
