Rede Feminina provides food aid to cancer patients in Brasília
The Rede Feminina de Combate ao Câncer de Brasília provides monthly food assistance to 300 vulnerable patients undergoing cancer treatment at the Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal (HBDF). The support includes basic food baskets and a dozen eggs to help alleviate financial hardships faced by patients who may need to stop working during their treatment.
Psychologist Ana Paula Soares Fernandes noted that many patients are the primary breadwinners for their families, often struggling to balance medical care with the needs of their children. The program's capacity to include new beneficiaries depends on the volume of donations received. Once registered, patients receive assistance through the end of the year. To apply, individuals must visit the Rede Feminina room at the hospital with identification and a copy of their biopsy.
