Rede Othon headquarters in Rio de Janeiro sold to RMB group
The former headquarters of Rede Othon, located in downtown Rio de Janeiro, has been sold in its entirety to the São Paulo-based group RMB, led by businessman Guilherme Bueno. The 12-story Art Deco building is situated at the corner of Teófilo Otoni and Visconde de Itaboraí streets.
Rede Othon, once one of Brazil’s largest hotel chains, has seen its footprint significantly reduced over the years. While the company expanded aggressively in the 1970s with luxury properties in cities like Salvador, São Paulo, and Belo Horizonte, most units have since ceased operations. Currently, only the Rio Othon Palace in Copacabana remains operational under the brand.
