Redland Rocket Man wins $550,000 Little Brown Jug

Redland Rocket Man, driven by Jody Jamieson, won the Grade 1 $550,000 Little Brown Jug at the Delaware County Fair in Ohio. The three-year-old male pacer finished the race in 1:49.4, securing a 4 1/4-length victory.

The win was historic for the Canadian connections involved; Redland Rocket Man is only the fourth Ontario-sired horse to win the race in its 81-year history. Trainer John Pentland, a co-owner of the horse, became the 11th Canadian-based conditioner to win the event. The victory earned Redland Rocket Man $300,000, bringing his career earnings to $677,020.

Melillo and Al Papi, both trained by Ron Burke, finished second and third respectively. Al Papi had previously won the first elimination division of the event earlier in the day.
