RedMetro and Santiago Metro report service updates and expansions
In Mexico, the state government has maintained free service for the RedMetro system in San Luis Potosí. Under a mobility policy led by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, users can access the five metropolitan lines—L1 Eje 128, L2 Los Salazares, L3 Circuito Potosí, L4 Valle de los Fantasmas, and L5 Soledad—without cards, prior registration, or payment. The service operates from 6:00 to 21:00, with boarding and exiting restricted to official stations to ensure orderly operation.
In Chile, the Santiago Metro is undergoing significant developments. A planned three-kilometer extension of Line 6, including the new Lo Errázuriz intermodal station, is expected to begin operations in 2028. This project aims to connect with the future Santiago-Melipilla Train and significantly reduce travel times for residents in the southwestern sector. Currently, the Santiago Metro network operates seven lines covering 149 kilometers and 143 stations, serving over 50 million passengers monthly.
