Redondela 3x3 basketball tournament suspended over rising costs

The Redondela 3x3 basketball tournament has been indefinitely suspended for the current season due to economic constraints. Organizers reported that the costs for refereeing services have increased by 300% compared to the previous edition, creating a financial gap that is impossible to bridge despite support from the Redondela City Council.

Other regional basketball entities, including 3x3 Coruña and Cangas 3x3, have expressed solidarity with the decision and called for a dialogue with the Galician Basketball Federation (FEGABA). They warned that rising costs for officials could force non-profit tournaments to operate without certified referees, ultimately harming the sport. In response, FEGABA defended its pricing, stating that the budget provided to the organizer follows standard rates and expenses.
