Redondela receives 34 new flood risk warning panels

Augas de Galicia, under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, has installed 34 new informative panels in Redondela to alert the public about flood risks. The signage is located along the Cabeiro and Fondón rivers and the Chapela stream.

According to the Galicia-Costa Hydrographic District Flood Risk Management Plan, the Chapela stream and Cabeiro River are classified as Group IV, representing areas with the highest danger and risk of overflowing. The Fondón River is categorized as Group I.

The initiative, part of the Strategic Plan for the Dissemination of Areas of Significant Potential Flood Risk (Pedarpsi), involved an investment of 13,132 euros. The panels provide information on the natural dynamics of the rivers, preventive measures, and recommended action protocols during heavy rainfall. Some versions of the signage include content specifically adapted for children. This installation expands the number of Galician municipalities featuring this type of signaling to 40.
