Redondela restores popular Outeiro Grande viewpoint swing

The Redondela City Council has repaired a popular swing located at the Outeiro Grande viewpoint, which offers views of the Ría de Vigo. The installation, a major tourist attraction since its installation in May 2023, was recently rendered unusable due to vandalism.

Technical services determined that the damage was caused by misuse rather than structural failure. Specifically, the solid wood beam supporting the swing broke due to excessive weight. The council noted that the structure complies with all current safety regulations and is designed to support up to 400 kilograms, having shown no prior signs of deterioration.

Local authorities have issued a plea for civic responsibility, urging residents and visitors to respect public spaces and urban furniture to avoid unnecessary municipal expenses. They have also called for community cooperation to help identify those responsible for the damage.
