Redondela road upgrades and O Porriño citizen caravan launch new local services in Galicia

The municipality of Redondela has begun the first phase of a €2.7 million road‑paving programme covering 68 public streets in the parishes of Chapela, Cabeiro, Cesantes and Reboreda. Projects include resurfacing about 500 m² in Chapela, asphalt work and drainage upgrades in Cabeiro, and repairs on the Camiño do Penedo, with contracts worth roughly €29,000 and €25,000 respectively. Mayor Digna Rivas highlighted the investment as the first of its kind in 15 years and emphasized sustainability measures such as durable materials and improved storm‑water systems.

Separately, the council of O Porriño continues its decentralisation effort with a mobile “Caravana Municipal” that will visit Pontellas on 16 July before ending the tour in Chenlo on 23 July. The caravan offers residents on‑site assistance for administrative procedures, information, and complaint handling. Mayor Alejandro Lorenzo will attend the Pontellas stop, providing direct interaction with locals. The initiative aims to bring municipal services closer to residents across the parish network.
