RedRoot calls for action against bullying following teen's death
RedRoot SVG Inc. has issued a call for increased efforts to address violence and bullying against children following the death of 17-year-old Tafari Browne. Browne, a student at West St. George Secondary School, died on October 12 after a stabbing incident in Arnos Vale.
While investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing, RedRoot stated that the tragedy underscores the urgent need to protect children from all forms of violence. The organization noted that bullying can occur in schools, homes, neighborhoods, and online, often targeting those who appear or behave differently.
RedRoot emphasized that while they provide advocacy, counseling, and education, NGOs cannot address the issue alone. They called for parents, caregivers, and schools to take reports seriously and act before harm escalates to ensure children have the dignity and protection they deserve.
