Redwire Space President discusses solar power for orbital data centers
At the 77th International Astronautical Congress held in Antalya, Turkey, Mike Gold, President of Redwire Space, highlighted the critical need for massive solar energy arrays to power future orbital data centers. As these data centers transition from kilowatt to megawatt power requirements, Gold noted that large-scale energy solutions will become essential.
Redwire is developing innovative deployable solar panel technology designed to address this demand. These systems are compressed like a carpet for launch and expand to create a significantly larger surface area once they reach orbit. Gold mentioned that Redwire has already produced some of the largest solar panel systems ever deployed in space as part of a program for NASA, utilizing this same deployable technology.
