Reece James calls injury speculation 'boring' ahead of England World Cup duties

Chelsea right‑back Reece James, 26, said the constant media focus on his injury history has become "boring" and that he is concentrating solely on his performances for club and country. After a stabilising season in which he made 44 appearances – 33 of them as a starter – James returned from a minor knee‑tendon issue in time to feature in England’s 4‑2 group‑stage win over Croatia at the 2026 World Cup.

James explained to BBC Radio 5 Live that he wants to block out the noise, stating, "People always talk about injuries and availability, and to me it’s so boring now." He also praised manager Thomas Tuchel, highlighting Tuchel’s tactical acumen and ability to connect with players, noting their successful partnership at Chelsea. The defender, who missed the 2022 World Cup and the Euro 2024 final through injury, faces pressure to stay fit as England’s options at right back remain limited.

His comments come as England prepare for the remainder of the tournament, with James expected to play a pivotal role in the team's defensive line.
