ReelCharge and Belkin launch solid-state portable chargers

Tech companies are introducing new battery architectures to portable chargers, focusing on solid-state and semi-solid technologies to improve safety and energy density.

ReelCharge has released wireless solid-state portable chargers in 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh capacities. These devices aim to provide enhanced security compared to traditional power banks. The 10,000 mAh model is priced at $70, while the 5,000 mAh version is $50. While offering compact designs and magnetic compatibility, early units have faced minor manufacturing issues such as loose buttons and light leakage.

Belkin has also entered the market with its UltraCharge Pro line, which utilizes semi-solid technology. This internal architecture seeks to balance capacity and safety while maintaining a compact form factor. The technology aims to bridge the gap between conventional lithium-ion batteries and full solid-state solutions, offering more efficient space usage for mobile users.
