Reese Witherspoon to buy back Hello Sunshine with Mediawan

Reese Witherspoon is set to buy back her production company, Hello Sunshine, from Candle Media in partnership with the Paris-based Mediawan. While the financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, the deal marks a return for Witherspoon, who originally sold the company to Candle Media for a reported $900 million to $1 billion in 2021.

Witherspoon is personally investing in the deal alongside Mediawan’s Pierre-Antoine Capton. Hello Sunshine, which employs approximately 911 people, is known for producing content such as ‘The Morning Show’, ‘Big Little Lies’, and ‘Daisy Jones and The Six’.

Following the acquisition, Hello Sunshine will join Mediawan’s growing ecosystem of independent production companies, which includes Chernin Entertainment, Plan B, and See-Saw Films. Hello Sunshine co-founder Seth Rodsky will join the company’s board alongside Witherspoon and Mediawan representatives.
