Referee Bojan Makarić assaulted during futsal tournament

Bojan Makarić, a referee for the WWin Liga BiH, was brutally assaulted during a futsal tournament in the village of Brezovo Polje near Brčko. According to reports, a player struck Makarić in the head during a match.

Following the incident, Makarić's friends transported him to Bijeljina for medical attention. Police from the Brčko District responded to the report on August 18, noting that while the victim had already been moved for examination, no traces were found at the scene.

Medical professionals required a CT scan to determine the full extent of the injuries. It has been confirmed that Makarić will require surgery to treat his wounds, which will result in his absence from WWin Liga BiH matches for some time. The Brčko District Police stated that legal measures will be taken once all facts and circumstances are established. The identity of the player involved has not yet been released.
