Referee Marvin Ceciliano faces possible blindness after violent assault in Aserrí football match

56‑year‑old referee Marvin Ceciliano was struck by a player during a U‑17 match between Aserrí Football Club and Salitrillos on 5 July. The blow caused severe facial trauma, a drooping right eyelid, and damage to his optic nerve. Ceciliano now sees only about 20 % with his right eye and 40 % with his left. He received 14 stitches on a facial wound and is being treated at Hospital San Juan de Dios, where specialists are attempting to preserve his remaining vision.
