Refice Jazz Festival celebrates 50th anniversary in Frosinone

The sixth edition of the Refice Jazz Festival will hold its fourth day of concerts on Sunday, October 18, at the Auditorium of the Licinio Refice Conservatory in Frosinone. This year’s festival marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the jazz courses, which were founded in 1976 by Gerardo Iacoucci.

The event is dedicated to the memory of the recently deceased musician and teacher. The program features two major orchestral performances. At 18:00, the MuSa Jazz Orchestra from Sapienza University of Rome, directed by Roberto Spadoni, will perform a repertoire ranging from Charles Mingus and Ennio Morricone to Astor Piazzolla and Wayne Shorter.

At 19:00, the Refice Jazz Big Band, directed by Filiberto Palermini, will perform ‘Around Jazz’ featuring guest saxophonist Rosario Giuliani. The concert will explore the boundaries of jazz through arrangements of works by George Gershwin, Sammy Nestico, Pino Daniele, and Fabio Concato, connecting tradition with contemporary jazz.
