Refit Buzi investigated for fruit‑vegetable export fraud in Albania

Albanian authorities have opened a criminal investigation into Refit Buzi, a Turkish businessman who returned from England in 2024 to operate an import‑export business for fruit and vegetables. Buzi allegedly conducted the activity without the required NIPT licence and used Albanian partners S. H. and F. R. to ship goods to the United Kingdom.

Two invoices dated 23 April and 28 April 2024, worth £31,872 and £32,177 respectively, were recorded and later fiscalised. Investigators say the payment records of Buzi, S. H. and F. R. do not match, suggesting that Buzi received a portion of the money from a Turkish‑owned company headed by B. G. Witnesses in Enfield, England, provided indirect testimony supporting the allegation.

During a police interrogation on 27 December 2024, Buzi admitted he had no licence at the time and described the arrangement as an informal, verbal agreement. He also confessed to having murdered his former wife before taking his own life, adding a homicide element to the case.
