Refit workers await court hearing over unpaid severance

More than 130 workers dismissed from companies within the Refit group are facing delays in receiving severance pay, FGTS, and labor fines. A Labor Court hearing in Duque de Caxias has been scheduled for October 21 to address a request to freeze approximately R$ 5.9 million to guarantee these payments.

The action was filed by the Union of Road Workers Employed in Dangerous Goods Companies of the State of Rio de Janeiro. The union is seeking to hold various companies within the Refit economic group accountable, including Logfit, 76 Oil, Flagler, Carinthia, and Manguinhos Distribuidora. The legal request also includes the seizure of assets from partners and the attachment of machinery, equipment, and vehicles.

According to the union, employees were dismissed in June and July and received termination documents but have not received the corresponding funds. Former employees have reported significant financial difficulties, including struggles to pay rent and credit card bills.
