Reform Party announces candidates for Estonian government reshuffle
The Reform Party board in Tallinn has confirmed several candidates for a government reshuffle. Martin Herem, the former commander of the Defense Forces, has been proposed as the candidate for Minister of Defense. Kristen Michal stated that Herem was chosen to restore trust within the defense sector and to address issues following state audit recommendations, particularly in light of regional security concerns involving Russia.
Additionally, Erkki Keldo has been nominated as the Minister of Environment and Energy. Keldo is noted for his previous experience in energy discussions and his involvement in facilitating new investments and accelerating planning processes. Liina Vahtras, currently the head of Estonian e-Residency and a board member of the e-Estonia Briefing Centre (e-Residency), has been named the candidate for Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry.
