Reform UK faces scrutiny over spending plans and donations sting

Conservative Shadow Chancellor Andrew Griffith has criticized Reform UK’s public spending proposals, claiming they contain a “black hole” and lack consistency. Griffith argued that the party’s financial plans do not add up, specifically noting that Reform’s reliance on debt interest savings is unreliable as markets may not react as predicted.

Separately, Reform UK Treasury Spokesman Robert Jenrick addressed a recent donations sting involving the party. Jenrick defended leader Nigel Farage, stating that Farage took “swift action” to suspend two individuals involved in the incident. While Jenrick maintained that Reform UK did not commission the polling used in the sting, he acknowledged the situation was handled poorly by those involved.

In response to spending critiques, Griffith stated the Conservatives aim to cut welfare beyond a £23 billion target, describing that figure as a “floor, not a ceiling,” while focusing on policies to increase employment and economic growth.
