Reform UK-linked thinktank proposes state pension abolition

The Centre for a Better Britain (CFABB), a thinktank linked to Reform UK, has released a radical report titled ‘Boosting Britain’ that proposes the abolition of the state pension and £75bn in tax cuts.

The 183-page report suggests removing up to 50% of the existing tax code. Key proposals include abolishing capital gains tax, inheritance tax, stamp duty on property and shares, digital service tax, and air passenger duty. It also calls for reducing corporation tax from 25% to 15% over an eight-year period.

To offset the costs, the CFABB suggests significant public spending cuts, such as eradicating the state pension and closing public pension plans for new teachers and civil servants. The report also advocates for weaker regulations for UK banks and the introduction of investment accounts for newborns. The CFABB, led by former Reform UK COO Jonathan Brown, states these reforms aim to increase productivity and business investment.
