Reform UK proposes social housing evictions for untidy gardens

Reform UK has proposed a new social housing platform that includes provisions for evicting tenants if their homes are not well maintained or if their gardens are deemed untidy. Party chair Lee Anderson stated that tenants in social rented homes would be expected to keep their properties and gardens in order.

The proposal also includes measures to change eligibility for newly built social housing. The party intends to prioritize British-born working couples with children. According to party leadership, this policy is also intended to encourage marriage. Under the proposed definitions, individuals born abroad to British parents would qualify as British-born, but British citizens born outside the UK to foreign parents would not be included in that category, regardless of their length of residency in the country.

Additionally, the broader platform includes plans to remove foreign nationals from existing social housing.
