Reform UK suspends activist Tim Montgomerie following criticism of Nigel Farage
Reform UK has suspended high-profile activist and former ConservativeHome founder Tim Montgomerie following public criticisms of party leader Nigel Farage. Montgomerie had criticized Farage for failing to attend the Clacton by-election victory count, suggesting the leader adopted a “too dominant aggrieved tone” and lacked a sufficient explanation for his absence.
Montgomerie also raised concerns regarding the conduct of home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf, stating that Yusuf’s combative approach toward others was problematic for the party.
Deputy leader Richard Tice defended the suspension, asserting that while the party welcomes debate, internal disagreements should be handled “behind closed doors.” Tice maintained that Reform UK is a fast-growing organization that is not “thin-skinned” despite the recent internal friction and scrutiny regarding Farage’s financial affairs.
