Refrigerator placement near stove and over‑filling raise energy use in Brazil

Electrolux senior brand manager Thiago Giamarino explains that keeping a refrigerator close to a stove increases the ambient temperature around the appliance, forcing the compressor to run longer or cycle more frequently. This extra workload raises electricity consumption and can accelerate wear on components such as the compressor, fans and electronics.

Separately, food‑storage experts note that over‑filling a refrigerator blocks cold‑air circulation, creating hot spots that spoil food faster and compel the unit to work harder to maintain a stable temperature. Leaving small gaps between items and avoiding blockage of air vents improves cooling efficiency, reduces energy use, and extends the lifespan of both food and the appliance.
