Refrigerator Temperature Guidelines and Smart App Control

Keeping a refrigerator at the recommended temperatures—4 °C or lower for the fridge compartment and –18 °C or lower for the freezer—helps preserve food safety while avoiding unnecessary energy consumption. Users should maintain a constant temperature, verify it with a thermometer, avoid over‑cooling, keep the door closed, ensure the seal is intact, and allow air circulation by not over‑loading the unit.

For Samsung smart refrigerators, temperature settings and special cooling modes can be adjusted remotely via the SmartThings mobile app. After selecting the appliance in the app, users can increase or decrease the fridge and freezer temperatures, enable Power Cool for rapid cooling, or Power Freeze for quick freezing. The app also offers food‑type presets such as fruits and vegetables, meats, and beverages, allowing tailored cooling performance without being physically present at the appliance.
