Regata Rei en Jaume celebrates 40th anniversary

The 40th edition of the Regata Rei en Jaume has been officially presented, marking four decades of the sailing competition that connects the municipalities of Salou and Calvià. The event is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 12, with vessels departing from Salou on September 11.

Organized by the Club Nàutic de Salou and the Club Náutico Santa Ponça, the regatta covers a distance of approximately 110 nautical miles. The route follows the historical path linked to the conquest of Mallorca by King James I in 1229. The upcoming edition is expected to feature nearly thirty vessels.

To commemorate the anniversary, an exhibition has been opened showcasing the 39-year history of the regatta through photographs, documents, and press collections. Local officials, including the mayors of Calvià and Salou, emphasized that the event serves as a bridge of sport, culture, and institutional brotherhood between the two regions.
