Regensburg prosecutors investigate Aiwanger's ex-teacher

The Regensburg Prosecutor's Office has launched a new investigation into a former teacher associated with Bavarian Minister Hubert Aiwanger. The proceedings concern the alleged unauthorized disclosure of official secrets.

It is alleged that during a high school reunion in July 2023, the retired teacher displayed a printout of a controversial, antisemitic leaflet and shared specific details regarding his previous role on the school's disciplinary committee concerning Aiwanger. The current investigation was triggered by a criminal complaint from a former student.

While Aiwanger himself did not file a complaint regarding the violation of private secrets, the Ministry of Education has authorized the prosecution of the breach of official secrets. The ongoing disciplinary proceedings against the retired teacher have been suspended due to this new criminal investigation. If convicted, the teacher faces serious consequences, including the potential reduction or total revocation of his pension.
