Reggina readies €5 million investment under Claudio Lotito ahead of Serie C push
Italian club Reggina is set to receive a multi‑million‑euro injection from businessman Claudio Lotito, the owner of Lazio, as part of a new project unveiled at a forthcoming press conference in Reggio Calabria. The plan includes a "maxi budget" to build a squad capable of winning promotion and remaining competitive in Serie C, with the club reportedly ready to offer a contract worth double the highest salary paid under the previous regime.
Among the targets is Brazilian striker Mateus Da Silva Castro, who scored 12 goals for Barletta in Serie D and has become a fan favourite. Negotiations are ongoing, and Reggina is prepared to meet Barletta’s demands to secure the player. The investment follows recent appointments of sporting director Romairone and coach Marchionni, and comes despite ownership rules that prevent dual control of clubs within the same family.
Lotito’s involvement marks the first time Reggina has attracted an owner with top‑level credentials, raising expectations among supporters and local officials.
