Reggio Calabria approves emergency plan for deceased following disasters

The Prefecture of Reggio Calabria has approved a specialized civil protection plan for managing deceased individuals following emergency events. Developed in accordance with a 2022 Prime Ministerial Directive, the plan establishes a coordinated provincial framework for the collection, transport, identification, and burial of victims resulting from natural disasters or man-made incidents.

The protocol involves a wide range of stakeholders, including the Calabria Region Civil Protection Department, local health authorities, the Fire Brigade, the State Police, and the Carabinieri. It aims to move beyond sectoral management to ensure a unified direction for operations, facilitating information exchange and the efficient use of resources to ensure the orderly management of remains when standard procedures are insufficient.
