Costa-Filippone clan: 12 arrested in Reggio Calabria mafia operation
An anti-mafia operation in the province of Reggio Calabria has resulted in 12 precautionary measures against members of the Costa-Filippone clan, which is active in the Melicucco area. The measures, issued by the Court of Reggio Calabria and executed by the Carabinieri Group of Gioia Tauro, include seven individuals in prison and five under house arrest.
The suspects face charges of mafia-type criminal association, aggravated extortion, aggravated private violence, illegal weapons possession, and drug trafficking. Investigators have identified Rosario “Angelo” Costa as the promoter of the criminal organization. The investigation, which began in May 2022, also drew from findings in the “Crimine” and “‘Ndrangheta Stragista” proceedings.
Additionally, a preventive seizure decree was issued for an individual business managing a quarry and a plot of land.
