Reggio Calabria bridge project resumes with zero extra cost

The municipal administration of Reggio Calabria announced that work on the Ponte Calopinace will restart under a revised design that adds no extra expense for the city. Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro said the new plan eliminates the previously missing access ramps and will allow the bridge to connect the Tempietto area, Lungomare Falcomatà and the Parco Lineare Sud without additional funding. The redesign, completed in about thirty days, includes the construction of ramps and a refreshed visual appearance for the structure. A detailed schedule has been prepared, and the mayor pledged to meet the announced deadlines, while noting that adverse weather could cause delays.

The project aims to resolve long‑standing obstacles that halted the bridge’s completion, improving local traffic flow and providing a permanent crossing for pedestrians and vehicles.
