Reggio Calabria Mayor meets protesting truck drivers
Reggio Calabria Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro met with truck drivers participating in ongoing protests against rising fuel costs and increasing operational expenses. The mobilization has caused significant disruptions to traffic, goods distribution, and the supply of essential goods and fuel across the region.
Cannizzaro emphasized the peaceful nature of the demonstrations and noted the limited tools available to local administrations to address emergencies of national scale. To assist citizens, the municipal administration has implemented an eight-day period of free public transport to alleviate commuting costs. The Mayor has called upon the national government to address the crisis, following announcements regarding the release of resources for the transport sector.
