Reggio Calabria medical forum addresses chronic kidney disease and AI
Medical professionals gathered at the Auditorium of the Order of Physicians, Surgeons and Dentists in Reggio Calabria for an integrated training course titled ‘News and challenges in the management of chronic kidney disease’. The event focused on prevention, early diagnosis, and therapeutic innovation for chronic kidney disease (CKD), a condition increasingly linked to diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.
Key discussions included the necessity of moving beyond blood creatinine levels to assess renal function, emphasizing the importance of estimated glomerular filtration rates and other damage indicators. The program also featured insights into kidney transplantation and the role of collaboration between nephrologists and general practitioners.
A keynote lecture by internationally recognized nephrologist Professor Carmine Zoccali addressed the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of healthcare and the transformations expected in medical professions due to technological advancements and an aging population.
