Reggio Calabria to host international Greek art exhibition

The National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria will host the international exhibition ‘Ispirazioni. Vite italiane dell’arte greca’ from October 22 to December 31, 2026. Following a stop at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, the exhibition explores the transformations of Greek art across the Mediterranean basin.

Promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture as part of the ‘Piano Olivetti’ for culture, the project strengthens cultural relations between Italy and Greece. The initiative follows an institutional visit by Minister Alessandro Giuli to Athens in June 2025. The exhibition is a collaborative effort involving the Department for the Valorization of Cultural Heritage, the Acropolis Museum, and the Reggio Calabria museum.

Curated by a team including Alfonsina Russo and Nikolaos Stampolidis, the exhibition uses the biographies of works to highlight the historical and cultural links between Greece and Italy. The venue, located in the ancient site of Rhegion, utilizes its collections from Magna Graecia and the famous Riace Bronzes to examine the shared history of these Mediterranean communities.
