Reggio Calabria to host “Radici” inclusive dance and music performance

Dance Movement Therapy Reggio Calabria social inclusion Mediterranean traditions Vallone Petrara

The performance “Radici” (Roots) will take place on Saturday, October 3, at 18:30 in Piazza Italia, Reggio Calabria. The event is promoted by the Vallone Petrara Psychiatric Residential Structure, which is managed by the Libero Nocera Social Cooperative, and is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria.

The show is the result of a weekly expressive-relational Dance Movement Therapy laboratory conducted by the residents of the facility. The project aims to bridge the gap between clinical care and community life by showcasing the expressive abilities and emotional work of the participants through art.

The program features a journey through Mediterranean cultures, incorporating elements of Magna Graecia, Hellenic communities in Calabria and Salento, and various folk traditions such as the tarantella. The performance will include a mix of dance, singing, and readings, featuring works such as music by Radiodervish and traditional songs from Sardinia and Calabria.
