Reggio Emilia council approves parking agreement despite opposition

The Reggio Emilia city council has approved a resolution to terminate the convention between the municipality and the company Reggio Emilia Parcheggi regarding the Park Zucchi and Park Vittoria parking areas. The decision was reached by a majority vote, though it faced unanimous criticism from opposition parties.

Opposition leaders from Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega, and local civic lists have characterized the move as a favor to the company. They noted that the finalization of the agreement is contingent upon two suspensive conditions: the company providing certification of its recovery plan and the granting of a two million euro loan to the municipality from Cassa depositi e prestiti.

Critics argue that these conditions, which were expected to be met by October 4, have not yet been fulfilled. They have called for a re-evaluation of the public interest in proceeding with the agreement.
