Reggio Emilia expands fund for victims of predatory crimes

The Municipality of Reggio Emilia has increased its fund to support victims of predatory crimes, including theft, pickpocketing, and vehicle damage. Following a recent 5,000 euro increase, the total available resources now exceed 15,000 euros.

Eligible residents can apply for a contribution of up to 250 euros, covering 70% of documented expenses. The support applies to various incidents such as broken car windows, lock replacements for homes, and losses from muggings or pickpocketing. To qualify, applicants must be residents of Reggio Emilia, be up to date with local waste tax (Tari) payments, and provide a formal police report along with receipts for repairs or replacements.

Applications must be submitted within 45 days of the incident. The fund has already processed 32 requests totaling 5,392 euros. To ensure long-term continuity, the administration has also secured an additional 15,300 euros for the 2027 budget year.
