Reggio Emilia fuel inspections reveal widespread price irregularities

The Guardia di Finanza in Reggio Emilia has intensified inspections of fuel distributors to prevent market distortions and protect consumers following geopolitical instability in the Middle East that has impacted petroleum prices.

During the summer period from June to August, authorities inspected 36 distributors. The audits focused on price transparency, the accuracy of advertised prices compared to those at the pumps, and compliance with mandatory weekly price reporting via the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy’s “Osservaprezzi carburanti” portal. The investigations revealed irregularities in approximately 38% to 40% of the checked locations.
