Reggio Emilia healthcare facilities to join earthquake drill

The AUSL IRCCS di Reggio Emilia, specifically through the Guastalla District, will participate in the ‘Sisma Bassa Reggiana 2026’ civil protection exercise on Friday, October 2. The drill is organized by the Unione Bassa Reggiana, local municipalities, and the Emilia-Romagna Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection.

The exercise will simulate a magnitude 5.9 earthquake at 10:00 AM. During the simulation, acoustic alarm systems will be activated in various healthcare facilities, including the Guastalla Community Hospital, the Guastalla Community House, and health centers in Novellara, Brescello, and Reggiolo.

Participants in the affected facilities will be instructed to move to designated external assembly points. While the drill aims to test emergency alert procedures, coordination, and territorial response capacity, scheduled medical appointments and services are not expected to be canceled, though minor organizational delays may occur.
