Emergency Festival begins in Reggio Emilia

The sixth edition of the Festival di Emergency is taking place in Reggio Emilia from September 4 to September 6. The event features over 70 scheduled appointments, including talks, debates, shows, and workshops designed to address global issues such as peace, human rights, and international conflicts in regions like Ukraine, Sudan, Afghanistan, and Palestine.

Participants and guests include journalists, activists, and cultural figures. The program covers diverse topics ranging from migration and climate change to the use of artificial intelligence in warfare and the right to health. A special podcast episode titled ‘Gino Strada, la vita straordinaria di un uomo normale’ has been released to honor the founder of Emergency five years after his passing, featuring reflections from figures such as Fabio Fazio and Renzo Piano.

The festival also includes a symbolic gesture where international rescuers presented the Emergency flag to Mayor Marco Massari. Additionally, the municipality has joined the ‘R1PUD1A’ campaign, which encourages conscientious objection to military service as a rejection of war.
