Reggio Emilia launches youth cultural project B. û. ş. – bastava uno spazio

The Comune di Reggio Emilia received 160 applications from people under 35 for a public call aimed at increasing youth participation in the city’s cultural life. From these, 38 artists and groups were selected, comprising more than 120 performers, to take part in the second edition of the project “B. û. ş. – bastava uno spazio”. The programme, supported by the Regione Emilia‑Romagna through the Geco 14 initiative, will run for 20 dates starting on 6 August and includes a technical team of 14 young people.

Events will be held in three public venues managed by third‑sector organisations: Casa d’Altri/Binario 49 (Sottoponte), Centro sociale Catomes Tôt (Parco Cervi) and Ics/Spazio Gerra (Orti di Santa Chiara). Culture and Youth assessor Marco Mietto said giving space to young people is a strategic choice to combat ageism and harness their creativity for public policy, innovation and economic growth. The opening night features a double performance by singer‑songwriter and guitarist Nicholas Torelli.
